2017 has been the year of cannabis oil in Canada and we expect this trend to continue through 2018 and into early 2019.
Then, things will change because in early 2019, Canada’s edible market will be gaining serious traction. The legalization of edibles in Canada is going to be nothing short of a major catalyst for an industry that is already the fastest growing in the world.
Amendment Approved to Legalize Edibles
Yesterday, the House Standing Committee on Health approved an amendment to Canada's legalization bill that would allow edibles.
Liberal committee member John Oliver said, “This proposed amendment would provide certainty and timing for Canadians and the industry that edibles containing cannabis and cannabis concentrates will be authorized for sale no more than 12 months of the proposed cannabis act.”
The decision gained immediate support from members of the industry.
A Multi-Billion-Dollar Opportunity
Demand for edibles is high in Canada. And if you look at what is going on in the United States, edibles are a major opportunity that can appeal as a healthier alternative to cannabis consumers who don't want to smoke marijuana.
We are favorable on the implications this will have on licensed medical cannabis producers, as well as on the leading edible brands in the United States. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for investors and it is one that should not be ignored.
