President Obama recently stated that the divide between Republicans and Democrats on marijuana politics is narrowing. One of the most recent examples of this trend is in Tennessee. Legislation to allow marijuana for medicinal usage has been introduced by Nashville Republican Senator Steve Dickerson and Cookeville Republican Representative Ryan Williams."We…
Representatives from Colorado and Oregon have introduced two bills that would legalize and tax marijuana at the federal level. If these bills are approved, they would effectively end the war against marijuana and serve as a catalyst for the cannabis industry.Jared Polis, a Colorado Democrat, introduced the Regulate Marijuana Like…
President Barack Obama may have pulled a fast one on the congressional Republicans that are trying to block marijuana legalization in the District of Columbia. President Obama did this by simply adding the word "federal" to his budget proposal. The addition of the word would allow the city government to…
During her confirmation speech on Wednesday, Loretta Lynch, the nominee for Attorney General, said that she does not support the growing trend of marijuana legalization. Supporters of marijuana hope that her uneducated stance will not end up being a road block for industry growth. During her hearing before the Senate…

His statement upset some marijuana advocates around the country and on Thursday, President Obama broke his silence. President…

The spending bill contains protections for medical marijuana and industrial hemp operations in states where they are legal. The spending bill includes an…
Rep. Andy Harris (Republican-Maryland.) introduced a rider into the spending bill aimed at blocking marijuana legalization in Washington, D.C. The language contained in the rider was very ambiguous and hard to understand by even the members of Congress. Mr. Harris says “none of the funds contained in this Act may be used to enact any law, rule, or regulation to legalize or otherwise reduce penalties associated with the possession, use, or distribution of any schedule I substance.” House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (Republican-Kentucky.), said that this spending restriction “prohibits both federal and local funds from being used to implement a referendum legalizing recreational marijuana use in the District.”
