All this time we’ve been wondering who the pro marijuana voice of reason in the Trump’s circle would be. With so many in Trump’s campaign that are clearly prohibitionist, the chances of any real supporters seemed slimmer than ever.
Then, six months into Trump’s presidency, an incredibly stunning development has breathed new life into the hopes of marijuana supporters around the country.
In an effort to improve their image with Congress, the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) decided to no longer have “Cheech and Chong” actor Tommy Chong represent the group as a celebrity marijuana activist when the NCIA goes to capitol hill in late April.
This has been a big week for the marijuana industry. Earlier this week, recreational marijuana officially became legal in Alaska. Today, recreational marijuana became legal in the District of Columbia. During the midterm elections, District of Columbia voters overwhelming supported Initiative 71, which legalized recreational marijuana. This initiative went into effect at 12:01a.m Thursday morning.
